Storytelling that flows from the source.
We named our company after our first major project: Headwaters Down, a source-to-sea documentary on the James River.
To this day, those words best represent our storytelling philosophy: find the wellspring of the story and follow its natural flow — all the way down.
Five years later, this process still surprises us with its magic. It’s been a wild journey and we invite you along for the ride.
Conservation Filmmaking
Our signature projects are documentaries that focus on environmental conservation and outdoor adventure. These stories primarily take place in Virginia, our home. The mountains, rivers, and people of Virginia made us who we are. We love it here, we feel it’s underrated, and we’re doing everything we can to showcase its beauty while also educating people about the threats to our resources and way of life.
Non-profit and Aligned Brands
We take pride in telling the stories of passionate and impactful organizations. Working with good people and ethical partners is important to us; it’s why we got into this. How big or small you are doesn’t concern us. If you’re dedicated to your mission, you probably have a powerful story to tell. We can relate — and we can help.
Community Impact
Whether it’s our own documentaries or client projects, what good is all the time and work invested if it doesn’t have an impact? We have a lot of experience here: designing and organizing events, fundraising, working with press, touring our work at universities, schools, camps, museums, and libraries, and more. We know how to make a difference and follow this aspect of the industry closely.
